As a fellow supporter of CARE International and a passionate traveller,
I am delighted to lend my support to Fiona and Pete Molloy.
They are undertaking a major overland trip from London to Sydney. Going
by an intrepid route that takes them through many challenging countries
and even more challenging border posts, including Iran, Pakistan, Nepal
and China they expect to arrive in Sydney by February 2003.
But it isn't just a couple on a jaunt. I've no doubt that the trek will
be arduous and the arguments over the map reading could be spectacular,
but they are also using this opportunity to raise money for CARE
International. I've long been an admirer of CARE's work in poor
communities around the world. Because, by helping local people secure
food, clean water, healthcare and an education, they really do change
lives for good. Over two billion of the world's population exist on
less than $2 per day. CARE's mission is to improve the lives of poor
communities and give them a degree of dignity and financial
self-sufficiency.
If you can help Pete and Fiona to raise £10,000 or more for CARE's
vital work that would be a fabulous bonus to this expedition. They
will be visiting CARE's work in the field and you can help to sponsor
them and learn more about the trip by visiting their website at
www.londontosydney.com or by going to CARE International's website at
www.careinternational.org.uk.
Many thanks and all best wishes.
